Fundraising

Wiltshire Search & Rescue is a registered charity

We do not charge anyone for the services we provide and receive no regular statutory funding, we rely solely on our own fundraising efforts and those of our community.

The basic day-to-day running costs for things like insurance and fuel is about £26,000 per annum, but including big one-off purchases like a new vehicle the overall expenditure for the charity is in the region of £100,000 per year.

We have no paid employees and all our members are volunteers who pay for their own clothing, fuel and expenses.

Fundraising is a never ending task and all of our members work hard to raise funds for the team. As well as spending time on supermarket collections/awareness days, local businesses kindly host collection pots for us – if you feel you could host a pot please contact
fundraising@wilsar.org.uk.  We also attend events where we are able to collect donations, offer our marshalling services to aid fundraising and organise activities and involve ourselves in other people’s fundraising.

We are extremely grateful to all the people and organisations that donate, support and take part in our fundraising efforts - without you we wouldn't be able to keep the team running and be unable to continue our work in looking for missing vulnerable people.

Interested in joining? Take a look at our volunteering page.

A special thank you to our supporters. Without you, we couldn't do what we do.

Ways to help us fundraise

This is a really simple way to raise money by recycling your old inkjet cartridges and we receive income!

Easy Fundraising is easy! We benefit every time you shop and it costs you nothing. So please sign up and start shopping via Easy Fundraising.

Give as you live – shop with over 4,000 retailers and we receive some money.

If you'd like to make a donation to us then it is easy to do it via PayPal - easy, secure and simple.

You can donate 10-100% of your proceeds from your ebay sales to WILSAR and you won’t pay seller fees on that part of your sale price. Charity auctions can attract extra potential buyers who search for charity listings. You can also pay direct by credit card using this link.

If you want to dispose of an old car then do it with Give a Car. They provide a free service to people wishing to dispose of their old cars for which we receive a donation from the money raised.

You can make a donation to us through the Charities Aid Foundation. If you do, please remember to add gift aid!

Do you have a drawer or jam jar, filled with foreign coins, left over travel money from previous holidays? Would you consider donating that forgotten currency to help us?

If you shop at Amazon, if you do it via this link, we get a small donation every time you do.

If you are planning to do a charity event, then why not do it for us - we'd be very grateful. You can use the gofundme platform.

As opposed to donating funds, you could support us by buying things from our Amazon wish list. These range from the tea that keeps the team running whilst searching through to batteries that keep the lights running.

You can support us by playing the Swindon Community Lottery. Chances to win up to £25,000 each week and we receive 50p for every ticket sold.

Credit Card payments can be made via Paypal. To arrange a Bank Transfer contact our Treasurer for our bank details. Cheques should be made to “Wiltshire Search and Rescue” and posted with a covering letter to Wiltshire Search and Rescue, c/o Wiltshire Police HQ, London Road, Devizes, SN10 2DN. Please contact our Fundraising Officer to arrange handing over any Cash donations.

You can also:
  • Offer a location for a collection pot. This will be emptied on a regular basis by one of our fundraising team.
  • Payroll giving. Ask your employer if they support payroll giving. This is a scheme that allows employees to make donations on a regular basis straight from the employer’s payroll before tax is deducted. See the Inland Revenue web site for more information.
  • Give your time. If you are interested in becoming an operational or support member involved in Search and Rescue, or would like to help with activities such as fundraising, administration or operational support, please contact us for more information.

How you can help us if you work for a business

If you represent a commercial company or other organisation, here are some ways that you may be able to help:
  • Financial donation. This can be in the form as a one off donation, or perhaps to fund a specific piece of equipment. Your generosity would be represented on our website and we would be happy to be jointly featured in any advertising or promotional material.
  • Equipment or service donation. If your company produces or sells equipment, or provides a service that may be of use to us, or could be offered as a raffle prize at one of our fund raising events.
  • Ongoing sponsorship. We would like to develop relationships with organisations that are able to provide financial support, equipment or services to us on a regular basis.
  • Help your staff to help us. You could encourage your staff to support WILSAR by running fundraising events or choosing us as their nominated Charity at sponsored walks etc.

Please contact us if:
  • you would like more information about any of these options, or
  • you would like to discuss other ideas for supporting our work, or
  • you would like someone from WILSAR to come and give a presentation at your organisation or community event.
You can contact us here.

We look forward to working with you.
